Fried-Cassorla's play, Info-Boy!, Melrose Park, PA Melrose Park, PA - An infomercial executive invents the ultimate cure for depression -- BluesBlockers. These are sunglasses that banish the blues permanently -- or do they? |

The serio-comic work will be given a public staged reading on Monday, May 6th, and Wednesday, May 8th as part of an extensive New Play Festival being offered to the theatergoing public by the Hedgerow Theatre. The May 8th event will be for members of the Philadelphia Direct Marketing Association, which has endorsed the event. However, the public is invited to attend on either date. The Hedgerow Theatre, located in Media, Pennsylvania, is the nation's oldest residential theater company. The New Play Festival begins on March 28th and runs until May 12th, featuring two mounted productions and several script-in-hand play readings. In Info-Boy!, a middle-aged infomercial executive faces many conflicting
pressures: the desire to be close to his adult daughter, a drive to make
his newest venture succeed, and the passionate attentions of his producer/lover.
Blues-Blockers are only his latest amazing venture. These are ultraviolet
powered sunglasses that elevate peoples' moods. Cure or scam? The play lets
you decide. Also included in the play are funny mini-infomercials, and an
original audience-participation sing-along of the original tune, "Get
Your New BluesBlockers." While the play is satirical in many respects,
it also includes serious character portraits, and presents complex business
and relationship conflicts. This presentation by skilled actors will include
staging and props. 02:2 _________________________________- 30 - |
